A programme of part of ‘Built, Environment,’ that Dennis who was part of R+ brought us through to walk around the exhibition. It was an exhibition of three artists, Paul Nickson, Ellen Lee, and Alvin Lau.

A showcase that allows us to ponder upon the tension between what we construct physically and the larger societal constructs that we exist or derive from.

Let’s break down this one-liner for the exhibition:

When I looked back on social media, now in June 2025, there was no trace of the event.

What I learned most of about the talk at R+, is rather than the content shared, rather how everything was managed. In other words, the circumstances around the talk, the design around the talk. I felt a strange inkling of unruliness, that if I let free, would insult everyone. Even writing this down, a deep fire is lit in my gut, signalling the urgent need to tend to bring the three speakers who so kindly offered time and energy, to a better conversation.

If anything, it felt like an assemblage of ideas that did not align with one another? The alignment wasn’t clear, as presented by the moderator, and that made it difficult for the audience to follow through.

  1. I felt it had little or nothing to do with the exhibition, other than one artist who was participating in the exhibition itself

One of the participants was the account behind thekulthings, which tests alternative histories of rediscovering the road names, little quirks, moments of the city if one would walk in the city. It reminds me of the work by Sampson wong, who is am urban influencer.
